The Belk Residence rests in the rolling hills east of Springfield Missouri near the James River. The characteristic Ozark landscape features of Hills and Hollows paired with Field/Prairie and Forest were considered in siting the home. Sited on the hill at the point where prairie meets forest, the residence utilizes a series of soft thresholds for the inhabitant seeking to blur the lines between inside and outside, field and forest, hill and hollow. The project name, The Threshold House, was derived from this poetic design objective.
