Dedicated to the growth and education of the profession, this new office will be home to classrooms, offices, and a union hall for UA Local 178, the Springfield area's Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. The building's form was derived from the torque of a pipe wrench, creating two distinct volumes, one for education and one for office administration. The separation of these functions also provided an opportunity for a covered outdoor patio. Along with the use of natural wood, glass, and black metal, this building sinks its roots into the surrounding Ozark landscape, providing adequate room for both the current and next generation of these union trades workers.
