What do a Boston accent, Bob Vila, and a guy carving sticks in his garage have in common? These seemingly unrelated cultural staples came together and sparked Michael’s love of architecture. While other kids were watching cartoons Michael spent his Saturday mornings watching “This Old House” (though he still found time to squeeze in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles every once in a while) and learning from his grandfather, a carpenter who could fix anything and carve a mean walking stick. His grandfather taught him that a thoughtful and elegant solution can be found for every problem, a strategy Michael has adopted in his work as an architect. In the spirit of a native born craftsman, he is drawn to the nuances of how buildings come together and how their design can express these connections.
His love of architecture, his grandfather, and Bob Vila led to a Bachelors of Architecture degree from the Hammons School of Architecture at Drury University. He has a wide scope of experience working on projects in K-12 and higher education, high end residential, recreation facilities, libraries, and more.
